QNAP showcased its cutting-edge network-attached storage and AI (Artificial Intelligence) innovations at AI EXPO, which has taken place from April 4th, 2018 to April 6th, 2018 at Tokyo Big Sight (Tokyo International Exhibition Center) in Japan. Visitors to QNAP’s booth No.1-7 at AI EXPO discovered NAS and AI solutions designed to accelerate deployment of AI and machine-learning​ applications, including AfoBot and the TS-1277.

AfoBot: QNAP's first video companion robot

AfoBot is a companion robot designed for family and home assistance, and is powered by an Android™ 6-based operating system with up to 32GB of local data storage. Featuring voice interaction, face recognition and video calls, AfoBot helps foster easy communication, family care, entertainment, and daily life assistance, enhancing quality of life and providing greater communication opportunities at home. It also supports voice controls (currently available in Japanese, English, and Chinese) for multimedia and taking photos. With the AfoTalk mobile app, mobile devices can be used to conduct video calls with the AfoBot at their home.In the future, QNAP will provide their partners with more software development kits for AfoBot, allowing them to leverage AfoBot’s software and hardware advantages to develop more AI-based business applications.

The IoT automated smart care solution in collaboration with HUIJIA Health Life Technology is also available at the event. Create unique high-precision physiological sensors with unique non-invasive fiber optic technology to monitor changes in human physiological activities such as breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, sleep analysis, and activity status. This technology extends to UBabyCare activity sensing mattresses, pillows and other home applications, combined with App data analysis to help parents more fully grasp the baby's environmental status. This service is currently used in more than 160 maternal and child hospitals, lunar centers and nurseries in Taiwan.

QNAP TS-1277: the ideal NAS solution for empowering AI & machine learning applications

QNAP also showcased the TS-1277, a Ryzen™-based NAS with up to 8 cores and 16 threads (available with an AMD Ryzen™ 5 1600 or AMD Ryzen™ 7 1700). With support for a PCIe graphics card, the TS-1277 can deliver sufficient GPU processing power to efficiently facilitate AI and machine learning tasks. By deploying QuAI (QNAP’s AI developer package) on the TS-1277, data scientists and developers can quickly build, train, and optimize AI models.

Also on display at the AI Expo was the solutions by QNAP’s partners: IEI and MoBagel. IEI showcased the Mustang-200, a high-performance computing accelerator equipped with two Intel® Core™ i5/i7 processors. The Mustang-200 PCIe card can boost the performance of your existing system that runs AI-oriented applications. MoBagel demonstrated Decanter AI, an AI-driven data solution that instantly powers existing data systems with automated predictive capabilities.
